Short Summary

This course offers an opportunity to grow and become more well-rounded in your skill set by learning the art of group coaching. Group coaching has so many benefits for clients and is a great way to expand your coaching practice. In this 3 1/2-week course you will learn how to apply your one-on-one skills to a group session, how to get started with a group of clients, skills to use in group session, how to use group sessions to introduce educational topics while remaining non-directive.

Navigating the challenges of group coaching and live practicum opportunities are designed to give you hands on experience in group coaching. Classes are done live over zoom and are recorded. Classes are interactive and practical in nature, designed to help you practice and build your confidence in group coaching skills.

Learning Objectives

Students will understand the strategies, skills and techniques of group coaching and will be confident in managing the challenges of coaching a group. Coaches will learn how to introduce educational material with a “coach-approach” and will be able to confidently coach a group of 3-8 clients.

Course Description

In this three and a half-week course, coaches will be trained in the structure of a group coaching session and the skills and processes they will use to navigate and guide group members toward meaningful change. Coaches will also be trained in how to apply coaching skills to a group setting (Motivational Interviewing, active listening, humor, group flow, etc).

This training will cover how to use group coaching as a platform for introducing educational topics while remaining non-directive. Coaches will be trained on strategies for handling pre-contemplation, disruption and skepticism from clients in a group setting. The course will also cover group coaching aimed at client populations that are dealing with chronic pain and chronic disease.
